A POEM OF LOVE AND DEATH

Updated: Mar 15

What happens when memories of a past love come back to haunt us.

Berta is still dressed in her bridal dress.

The groom however never arrived and she was left waiting. Now she hears the voices and sounds of that fateful day and she slowly comes out of her coffin.

Concept, text, and performance: Patricia O'Donovan

Puppet and wooden coffin: Patricia O'Donovan

Hadas Ofrat taught us, at the School for Visual Theater, how to carve out a puppet's head from a solid block of wood and the mechanisms to move its hand and lower jaw.

The coffin I built inspired by Rene Magritte's "The Balcony".

The show opened at the first Finale of the School for Visual Theater in 1986
